Overview

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a three-year postgraduate medical degree that provides advanced training in a chosen medical specialisation. It is pursued after completing an MBBS degree and focuses on developing clinical knowledge, diagnostic skills, patient management abilities, and research experience.

MD specialisations include General Medicine, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Radiodiagnosis, Pathology, and other clinical, laboratory, and academic disciplines.

To apply, candidates generally need an MBBS qualification recognised by the relevant medical regulatory authority, completion of the compulsory rotating internship, and the required medical registration.

MD admission is primarily entrance-based. NEET PG is used for admission to participating medical institutions, while INI CET provides an admission route for participating Institutes of National Importance. Candidates must also fulfil the applicable eligibility and counselling requirements.

The programme combines supervised training, academic study, and research to prepare graduates for specialist medical practice or further professional development.
