Steps in the JAGSoM Admission Process 2026
JAGSoM evaluates applicants based on their academic consistency, work experience, innovation potential, problem-solving approach and suitability for the institute’s academic environment. The admission process involves the following stages:
Step 1: Application and Shortlisting
Candidates must complete the application form and provide their academic, personal and entrance examination details. Applicants are shortlisted according to the eligibility requirements of their selected programme.
Step 2: JAGMAT and Psychometric Test
Candidates who have not appeared for an accepted entrance examination may be asked to take the JAGSoM Management Aptitude Test.
JAGMAT is an online, remotely proctored computer-based examination conducted by JAGSoM. The test includes three sections:
- English Language Proficiency
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Logical Reasoning
Each section carries 25 marks, making the total score 75 marks. The examination has a duration of 90 minutes and does not have negative marking. Candidates can take JAGMAT a maximum of two times, and the better score is considered.
Shortlisted candidates may also receive an invitation to complete a psychometric assessment. This test evaluates their strengths, competencies, interests and suitability for a particular area of business education. The resulting profile may also help candidates identify an appropriate academic and career path.
Step 3: Admission Selection Process Registration
After completing JAGMAT and the psychometric assessment, eligible candidates receive a notification to select a slot for the Admission Selection Process.
Selection rounds may be conducted across multiple Indian cities. Applicants must confirm their preferred slot within the specified deadline. The final schedule and reporting instructions are sent to the candidate’s registered email address.
Candidates should report at least 15 minutes before their confirmed selection slot.
Step 4: Group Exercise
Shortlisted applicants participate in a Group Exercise designed to evaluate their communication, teamwork, leadership, analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Step 5: Personal Interview
Candidates who qualify for the interview stage must appear before a selection panel. The panel may include a faculty member, an industry professional or a JAGSoM alumnus.
The Personal Interview generally lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. It evaluates the applicant’s subject knowledge, communication skills, career objectives, work experience and overall suitability for the programme.
Step 6: Interaction With the Programme Chairperson
After the Personal Interview, selected candidates may be required to interact with the Programme Chairperson. This interaction can take place online or in person.
Step 7: Final Selection and Admission Confirmation
The final admission decision is based on the candidate’s entrance examination performance, selection-round scores, academic background, work experience and overall profile. Selected candidates must complete document verification and pay the admission fee within the specified deadline to confirm their seats.
