IIM Bangalore Admission and Application Process 2027

Admission to IIM Bangalore is primarily entrance-based. The institute accepts examinations such as CAT, GATE and UGC NET for admission to different programmes. The entrance examination and selection criteria vary according to the course selected by the candidate.

The major stages of the IIM Bangalore admission process are explained below:

Step 1: Complete the Application Process

Candidates seeking admission to the PGP or MBA programme must register for and complete the CAT application process. For other programmes, eligible candidates must apply through the official IIM Bangalore website according to the requirements and application schedule of their selected course.

Before applying, candidates should carefully check the programme-specific eligibility criteria, accepted entrance examination, required documents and application deadline.

Step 2: Appear for the Entrance Examination

Applicants must appear for the entrance examination accepted for their chosen programme. Depending on the course, candidates may also be required to participate in institute-level selection rounds.

Step 3: Participate in the Selection Rounds

The selection process varies by programme:

• PGP/MBA admission: Candidates are shortlisted based on factors such as their Class 10 and Class 12 academic performance, CAT score and applicable qualifying and final cutoffs. Shortlisted applicants must participate in further selection rounds, which may include a Written Ability Test and Personal Interview.
• Final MBA selection: After the selection rounds are completed, IIM Bangalore prepares a category-wise merit list based on each candidate’s Final Composite Score.
• EPGP admission: Candidates are shortlisted based on their GMAT or GRE scores and other programme-specific requirements. Shortlisted applicants are subsequently invited to participate in the applicable Written Ability Test and Personal Interview rounds.

Step 4: Confirm Admission

Candidates who receive an admission offer must accept their allotted seat and pay the applicable IIM Bangalore admission fee within the prescribed deadline. They may also be required to complete document verification and other enrolment formalities to confirm their admission.
