Overview
BTech full form is Bachelor of Technology. It’s a 4-year degree course and is seen as the first step for getting into Engineering stream. AICTE reports that 15.98 Lakh seats were approved for BTech in 2025-2026 compared to 14.9 Lakh seats in 2024-2025, which shows a 7% increase.
You can get an average starting salary around INR 6 LPA to INR 6.5 LPA after BTech. Highest BTech salary is between INR 29 LPA and INR 38.5 LPA for a senior role.
AICTE says India is one of the largest producers of Engineering graduates in the world and Computer Science Engineering is the most employable branch among all specialisations. Candidates must pass Class 12 with PCM subjects and have good knowledge of Maths and Science for a BTech course. Students wishing to get admission must sit for one among national, state-level and university-level exams like JEE Main, MHTCET, WBJEE, SRMJEE, LPUNEST, etc.
